Unearthed

Barbara Straussberg

Making art is often an effort to interpret indescribable sensations. It is through the distortion of color and forms that such unknowable feelings are visually expressed yet remain intuitively understood. Barbara Straussberg creates the painted surface in response to her surroundings using contrasting layers of transparent color and thick paint gestures, material appliques and hovering stippled outlines. Unlike the experimental nature of her work, Straussberg communicates with ease and confidence. She received Distinction in Art History, B.A., 1983 and attended The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Painting Major, 1993. Her works have been widely exhibited and are in several private and public collections including Princeton University, Workplace Environments, LLC., Brandywine Realty Corporation and SAP America. Barbara Straussberg has been in published in Arts & Entertainment, Art Matters and Nouveau Delaware Valley.
